A&E Department - New Teenage Waiting Area - First Drawings by Beverley Coraldean

Following a sustained period of consultation with staff, patients and visitors the artist Beverley Coraldean has begun working on her first drawings for the planned Teenage Waiting Area in Accident and Emergency.   Beverley Coraldean has been specially tasked by the Norfolk and Norwich with creating artwork for this new area, and is seeking to bring together elements from many different forms of imagery with a focus on simplicity, clear line drawing and the Norfolk coastline.  This is a special piece of artwork to have at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital as it will be the first of its kind to be solely designed for a teenage environment taking into account all their specific needs and concerns.  The previous and ongoing consultations with staff, patients and visitors have enabled the project artist to try and visualise the particular needs for teenage and young person’s environments in a hospital setting as this crucial to the feel and overall sense of the waiting area.  It will be exciting to see the results of this.

Beverley Coraldean is a local artist and illustrator working and living in Norwich.  Her styles include detailed drawing of landscapes, architectural style illustration and decorative lettering.  She has illustrated posters, websites, maps, large scale murals and even animations.   She has many awards and achievements to her name, most recently being nominated for a Visual Artist Award, as part of the Norfolk Arts Award series in 2017.
