The new Big C Centre artwork at the NNUH was completed through the Charitable Funds of Environmental Arts and the Big C Centre itself. The new artworks are by the artist Georgina Warne whose personal website can be found by following this link: http://www.georginawarne.co.uk/index.php.
She is readily inspired by nature and her observations of the natural world, as well as the poetry of John Clare and Ted Hughes, and classic nature writers such as Richard Mabey, Robert Macfarlane and Roger Deakin. She studied Ceramics and Glass at the Birmingham Institute of Art and has an MA in Ceramics from the Cardiff School of Art and Design.
The Big C Centre at the NNUH offers a variety of cancer related information, a wide range of practical and emotional support, as well as somewhere to relax with a cup of tea and talk to a trained member of staff if required.
People can call at the Big C Centre anytime, and do not need to make an appointment. There is a fully stocked library of books and leaflets as well as computers and available wifi.
The Big C Centre had requested a new series of artworks that crossed the old interiors, but would still work with future interior design schemes. Georgina Warne was selected from a list of over 30 artists, and in the picture above you can see part of the finished artwork – a really pleasing addition to the Big C Centre.
